6 October 2013 marked the twentieth anniversary of the Blessing of Animals at St James the Great. Tribute was paid to Lorraine Hawkes who has convened this community event since its beginnings. Glorious weather contributed to the relaxed atmosphere in the church and parish gardens where people queued to receive a blessing for themselves and their companion animals while many browsed enjoying afternoon tea and buying treats for their pets as well as exploring the book stall or enjoying one another's company.
